Hey again,
Its 9:30pm Friday currently and im very tired after the first day of my snowboard instructor course.
Was lots of fun, we spent most of the day out on the slope going through about technique and teaching and whatnot. Then had about an hour of videos about instructing at the end. After getting out of that we walk out the cabin and start to walk across a patch of snow which didnt seem too deep, till we suddenly drop about thigh deep into it! I couldnt believe it. it was incredible! Unheard of in AUS.
Couldnt believe how much nicer the snow was over here, its just soft and fluffy and apparently this is a low part of the season :o! WOW. And such an awesome view from up the mountain!
So lets skip back a couple days and finish those storys.
So from the pub crawl. Pic with a random elk dressed as a mountie. This was about the 5th pub along the line here, and the shots were going nicely :)
The nice bartender took a pic of all of us with it - random.
The hot springs were really nice. an avereage 39 degrees in the water. It was really cool, walking out of the change rooms it goes to a sloping corridor that slopes into the water so you start getting into it and dont even have to do a mad dash through the freezing alpine air into the water! i was impressed :)
So some more pics of Sunshine Village.
Remember this is low snow cover, its like australia's peak! :P It was something different to snowboard on the untouched parts of runs, like just off the side where its just fresh smooth powder about 10cm deep! words cant explain the feel, its almost like boarding on some kind of silk!
I cant wait for deeper powder :D
I had a stack in 1 bit of powder and ended up with my board wedged in sticking up on a 45 degree angle, was weird, had to work a bit to get loose and be able to stand up haha.
Hit up the hot springs again this arvo to relieve the pains of the first day snowboarding and muscles getting used to being used again, then headed out to Earls for dinner.
Got a half rack of ribs and chicken. It was awesome :D

The mountains and hot springs look GREAT! Just beware of random Elks disguised as Mounties...
